CapCal provides a dynamic calibration reference for real-world calibration of capnographs. CapCal augments static calibration of capnographs by the cyclic delivery of gas sources that mimic respiratory behavior. CapCal provides control of both cycle period (3-499 'breaths' per minute) and phase (4:1 - 1:4). CapCal requires connection to pressurized (10 psig) sources of 100% N2O, 100% N2 and 10% (or 5%) CO2 in an N2 balance.
Static calibration can be performed without removing CapCal from the calibration gases. Front panel controls allow pass-through of each source. Once static calibration is complete, CapCal's dynamic mode is engaged. Capnograph settings can be adjusted as required to verify accurate performance under various respiratory settings. Cycle period and phase can be varied while in operation to determine capnograph performance
